If  you, or someone you know, is a musician with a liking for  unusual  instruments or a collector of Chinese artifacts, this traditional free reed wind instrument –  known as a hulusi – will make a unique addition to any collection.

The hulusi  was predominantly played by non-Han minorities in  Yunnan province in Southern China although it is now found throughout the whole of the country.

The hulusi takes its name from its shape and its sound; 'hulu' meaning gourd and 'si' meaning silk, in reference to the clear, clarinet-style sound it produces.

Consisting of a gourd-shaped wind chest and 3 bamboo pipes - 1 with finger holes and the other 2 acting as drone pipes -  this  beautiful, authentic  hulusi was handcrafted in China and features a traditional landscape design.
